Hiraeth's character application is within the profile itself. There are six text areas, of which 'personality', 'appearance', 'abilities', and 'memory' must be filled out, although appearance can be skipped if you have a character image. There are also several text fields: 'gender', 'pronouns', 'age', 'species', and 'ooc name'. All of these must be filled out.
On OOC accounts, please fill out the gender and pronouns section; anything else is optional.
Once you've completed a profile, make a post on this board using the name of your character as the title and whatever you want for text and a member of staff will look over your character.
When your character is accepted, staff will assign them some kind of housing ('habitation') if it's available and you will be all ready to post your introduction in either an open and ongoing thread or a new one in the Mysterious House board.
Below this post is a list of all current characters within Hiraeth.
By the way: to create a new character account on desktop, at the bottom-right corner of the screen you'll see this:
Click the one marked in red.
It's easier to switch accounts on desktop, but Hiraeth should be perfectly useable on mobile, even with people who use posting tables.

{How To Fill Out The Profile}
Ah, a little confused on how to fill it out, are we? No worries! I'll use the darling Lyra as my example.
First, go ahead and go to 'edit profile'. You'll be greeted with an avatar section. You're free to upload whatever avatar you'd like, so long as it obeys all listed rules. Avatars are 150x150 by default, but will be resized to fit. After that, go ahead and go into the 'personal' tab.
At the very top, you can go ahead and ignore things. Proboards is somewhat noninclusive in terms of gender, which is why we have a text area to fill out instead. Hiraeth also does not use any type of 'status' - it's been effectively disabled.
For the 'personal notes' and 'signature' sections, these are all on you. Staff can see your personal notes, but if you want to keep track of something without necessarily letting everyone know, it's perfect. Signatures are optional but should be no wider than 700px. Keep them shorter, not taller; 500px is very much pushing it. In addition. signatures must be uploaded to an image-hosting site outside of proboards.
Use the BBCode img src, like above. I personally like to center my signatures, like so:
Here come all the quick options. Try to keep the answers short here, as it can mess up some coding if they get too long.
These next four options are longer. Since the text areas only take light BBCcode, you can't put in tables or lists. You can, however, add links, bold text, italicize text, underline text, and strikethrough text. I believe subscript and supscript are also allowed as well. Take your time when you go over these; think about what you want in a character. For personality: perhaps someone who is determined doesn't give up easily, which can be good in terms of trying to reach a goal but bad in terms of being unable to compromise. A good orator might be a poor listener. Everyone should have flaws, strengths, and weaknesses. Also, if your character lacks any extraordinary abilities or magical/technological powers, you can ignore the 'abilities' section too.
The final three fields are optional. History, other (which is good to use to credit any artists who did the artwork you're using!), and character image. Character image is fun; you can put in any image of your character of any size, click the link towards the top of the profile, and you'll get an alert box. Click the image in that, and a full-sized version of the image shows up in a separate window (or tab, depending on your settings)
And there you have it: the profile fully filled out!
Once you're accepted, there will be two additional fields.
The first is 'OOC Name' This is the alias of you, the player. Please fill it out so we can keep track of who is playing who!
The second field is 'inventory'. Most common sense goods (such as the clothes you arrived with and commonly-available food) will not be listed. But you may find your character with something useful (like a packet of seeds or some type of armor) or powerful (like a magical artifact). In which case, you'd want to note this down so that both staff and yourself know you have it. You don't start with anything; it'll be very explicit when you pick something up!
